Trail Mix Porridge

A hearty and nutritious breakfast porridge made with a variety of grains, fresh cranberries, walnuts, and naturally sweetened with maple syrup and brown sugar. This slow-cooked dish combines the flavors of a classic trail mix in a warm, comforting bowl.

Ingredients

  • •6 cups water
  • •1½ cups cranberries
  • •¾ cup pearled barley
  • •¾ cup light brown sugar
  • •½ cup walnut pieces
  • •6 tablespoons bulgur
  • •6 tablespoons corn grits
  • •6 tablespoons millet
  • •6 tablespoons maple syrup
  • •½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • •¼ teaspoon salt

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1.

    Stir all the ingredients in a slow cooker until the maple syrup has dissolved and all the grains are moistened. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours, or until the porridge is creamy and the grains are tender.
