Tomato Toast with Chives and Sesame Seeds

A fresh and flavorful open-faced sandwich featuring toasted country bread topped with garlic-lemon mayonnaise, ripe tomatoes, chives, and sesame seeds. This elegant yet simple dish combines creamy, crunchy, and fresh elements for a perfect light meal.

Ingredients

  • •1 clove garlic clove
  • •½ cup mayonnaise
  • •1 pinch Kosher salt
  • •½ whole lemon
  • •4 slices country-style bread
  • •3 medium tomatoes
  • •2 Tbsp chives
  • •2 tsp sesame seeds
  • •1 pinch Flaky sea salt
  • •1 pinch black pepper
  • •1 pinch Aleppo-style pepper
  • •1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil

Cooking Instructions

    Mix garlic and mayonnaise in a small bowl. Squeeze about 1 tsp. juice from lemon half into bowl; season with kosher salt. Hang on to lemon.

    Spread a generous layer of seasoned mayonnaise over toast; shingle a few tomato slices on top. Sprinkle with chives, sesame seeds, sea salt, black pepper, and Aleppo-style pepper. Finely grate some lemon zest from reserved lemon over and drizzle with some oil.
