Ingredients

  • •4 tablespoons salted butter, melted, plus more for tin
  • •12 pieces fresh wonton wrappers
  • •12 pieces small strips of paper with handwritten fortunes
  • •2 tablespoons sugar
  • •1 piece 12-cup muffin tin

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1.

Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease muffin tin with butter.

    5 min

  2. 2.

Working with one wonton wrapper at a time, place one folded fortune in the center of the wrapper. Dip your fingers into a small bowl of cool water and lightly wet all four edges of the wrapper. Fold in half, gently pressing to seal the edges.

    15 min

  3. 3.

Fold ends of wrapper toward each other to create the shape of a traditional fortune cookie.

    10 min

  4. 4.

Working quickly with a pastry brush, generously brush each wonton wrapper with butter on all sides. Sprinkle each with 1/2 tsp. sugar, then place in a prepared muffin cup. Repeat with remaining wrappers.

    10 min

  5. 5.

Bake cookies, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crisp, 10-12 minutes. Let cookies cool slightly in tin, then carefully transfer to a wire rack and let cool completely.

    12 min
